That took a lot longer to upload than I was anticipating.

Topics include essay writing, summer, being happy, and what skirt I’m going to wear tomorrow night. Actually, tonight. Monday night. Whatevz.ETA: Apparently the clock on this blog is an hour out. Hmm.

Daniel wanted me to pimp out his radio show on my video blog, so I told him he could record an advert for it. Mark followed him into my room, and, as you can see, hilarity ensued.

I’d like to apologise in advance for how very irritatingly gasping my laugh is. I hadn’t realised it was so annoying. I’m not sure how everyone puts up with it. Maybe I should stop laughing.

I know I only did a video blog on Sunday, but I felt like doing one today so I thought, ah, what the hell, let’s go for it.

This is a more acceptable length for a video blog, y/n?

All day I’d had it in my head that I was going to do another video blog entry. But when I actually came to do it, I just … couldn’t. Every time I started, I either forgot what I was about to say, said something stupid or floundered over a pointless word. It pissed me off at first, but then it just became stupid, and I decided that instead of trying to force myself to record a whole entry, I’d edit together bits from my many failed attempts. And just to add to the fun, I set it to a song (Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy, in case you don’t recognise it. Which you should do. Because, you know, it was number one for years).

As I try to get across in the video, I’ve decided that my video blog entries will be shorter, in a vague attempt to encourage more people to watch them. I doubt many people have the patience to watch me ramble on for 7 minutes with absolutely no direction. 3 or 4 minutes is possibly more acceptable.

I have questions to answer, so I’m not just rambling. I don’t know whether it makes it better or worse, to be honest!

The Walt Disney company believes in fairies. Tinker Bell, who was represented as merely a beam of light in the original J.M. Barrie play Peter Pan and later became a full-fledged character (whose life is saved when the audience shouts “I believe in fairies”) is about to star in four direct-to-DVD movies. The studio on Tuesday announced plans to issue a Tinker Bell movie each year through 2011, beginning with Tinker Bell in October of this year, followed by Tinker Bell: North of Never Land in 2009; Tinker Bell: A Midsummer Storm in 2010; and Tinker Bell: A Winter Story in 2011. Disney said in a statement that the movies will be released in Blu-ray and DVD but gave few other details.

I really don’t understand Disney’s obsession with Tinker Bell. Yes, she’s a small and cute pixie/fairy, and she makes for a good icon for the company because of how she looks (except when she’s played by a man with a moustache … but that’s another issue entirely), but her character is … well, she’s a bitch. She’s selfish, obsessed with Peter Pan, and tries to kill Wendy. Admittedly, Wendy is a whiny little girl but she doesn’t deserve all of the hatred that Tinker Bell piles onto her.

Oh well, at least they’re only direct to DVD releases.

EDIT: On a totally and completely unrelated note,  I actually like a band that Daniel recommended to me. Oh dear.

In my American History seminar today, Richard mentioned that Abraham Lincoln was a rail splitter. Which reminded me of this brilliant sketch by Bob Newhart. Amazingly, they have it on YouTube. It’s a one-sided conversation between a man on the phone to Abraham Lincoln just before the Gettysburg Address. Sounds strange? Yes, but listen to it. It’s brilliance.

And if you find that amusing, his Driving Instructor sketch is definitely worth a listen as well. My mother and I quote it far too often.

Since I’m back at university, and no one’s around, I decided that instead of doing reading, I’d do another video blog.

I should really get a specific topic to talk about.

Since I have been seriously lacking in the inspiration department for things to say on this blog, I decided to try my hand at something a bit different. Instead of typing an entry, I’ve talked an entry. And oh boy, do I talk. I didn’t realise I could talk for so long about so little.

It’s vaguely interesting. Honest.

After being home for only 3 days, I’m off to Florida tomorrow for 2 weeks. We’re flying into Tampa, staying around Clearwater for a few days then driving up to Kissimmee for a 10 day stay in a villa. I have a feeling I’ll be spending quite a bit of that time writing postcards and searching for presents! I’m just too nice for my own good sometimes. Well …

My mother’s paid to have the pool heated for the whole time we’re there, which is excellent. Busy/hot day? Yes, I think I will go for a swim to relax/cool down, why thank you.
I’d bought a swimsuit and bikini when I was in Brighton, but I managed to leave them in my room at uni (come on, it’s not an obvious thing to remember), so yesterday my mother and I had to dash down to Tesco to get me some swimwear (since there was no way I was wearing the too small faded tankini I’ve had for at least 3 years). There was a good selection, so success was had.

Now to hope it’s warm and sunny while we’re there! *crosses fingers*
